Shannon Sharpe Aired Out Brett Favre For Mississippi Welfare Scam, Now He’s Facing Legal Action

Brett Farve is still flying under the radar despite claims that he stole millions from folks in Mississippi. The NFL hall of fame legend continues to evade any consequences as people demand updates on the case and some type of repercussions for what he did. Fellow NFL player Shannon Sharpe has also opened up about this but unfortunately got into legal trouble because of it.
Around the time that Nia Long and Ime Udoka’s relationship woes were circulating round the clock on ESPN, fans demanded to know where the news coverage was or Brett Farve and his welfare scandal. Farve had reportedly funnel money meant for poor and underprivileged people in the state towards projects that benefitted him and his family. Farve claims he did not know the roughly $77 million was from welfare. Farve was also accused of pocketing millions for public appearances he never showed up for.
Shannon Sharpe used his platform to speak on this in September. “You have to be a sorry mofo to steal from the underserved,” he said in a Tweet. Sharpe also discussed the obvious inequality in how Favre’s legacy has been protected while black athletes get dragged through the mud. “Mississippi is the poorest state in our country,” Shannon said in the video. He criticized how relaxed everyone was with the claims and feels like Brett is getting away with a lot while no one brings up his drug addiction or inappropriate messages sent to a massage therapist.
Farve did not like Shannon’s hot take and decided to file a lawsuit against him. In addition to Sharpe, he is also suing Pat McAfee and Mississippi State Auditor Shad White. In his court filing, Farve’s team alleges that “Shad White has carried out an outrageous media campaign of malicious and false accusations against Brett Favre in a brazen attempt to leverage the media attention generated by Favre’s celebrity to further his own political career.”
McAfee immediately responded with a hilarious post of Dave Chappelle in court pleading the “fif.” One person summed up the whole ordeal saying, “Brett Farve filing a lawsuit against Shannon Sharpe during black history month… after stealing money from poor black folks. Caucasity never sleeps.”
